Plate Tectonics: A theory of global tectonics in which the lithosphere is divided into a number of crustal plates, each of which moves on the plastic asthenosphere more or less independently to collide with, slide under, or move past adjacent plates.
Continental Drift: The continents were once together, but then they broke apart to where they are now.
Pangaea: It was the supercontinent that was there 300 million years ago and was breaking up 250 million years ago.
Asthenosphere: Its made of a mantle rocks which tectonic plates move on top of it.
lithosphere: It comprises the crust and the portion of the upper mantle.
Mid-Oceanic ridge: Its an underwater mountain system that consists of various mountain ranges, with a valley running along its spine.
Rift valleys: Its formed on a divergent plate boundary, a crustal extension, a spreading apart of the surface.
Subduction: _ One tectonic plate moves under another tectonic plate and sinks into the mantle as the plates converge.
